Costume Run For Women’s Day at Courtyard Seminyak
In commemorating Women’s Day this year, Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak held a thrilling Costume Run; a unique running event where all runners dressed up in fun costumes for the 5km route that took more than 300 participants through some of Seminyak’s most exhilarating landmarks including Seminyak Beach and Legian Beach. The run was conceptualized to honour women’s rights movements and took place on the 11th of March 2018 at Seminyak Beach, at the front gate of Jalan Camplung Tanduk.
The participants, whom mostly hailed from Indonesia, Indonesia and India amongst others, ran to support Courtyard Seminyak’s own initiatives with Bali Wise, a local non-profit organization whose vision is to remove the barriers preventing disadvantaged Indonesian women to access education and securing work, through a six month intensive course with free education in English, Bahasa Indonesia, IT, hospitality and business skills. Since 2012, it has helped more than 800 women to get work and will train 120 disadvantaged women this year. Judith Kirana, Marketing Communications Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort said, “We’d like to thank all the participants for taking part in this Costume Run. While having fun with the run and costume, everyone is contributing a lot to the local community. We do hope that all the funds raised will have a meaningful impact to our friends in Bali Wise. Also, we don’t have to wait until Halloween to wear a costume!” The first place winner clocked in at 16 minutes and 52 seconds and won a 4 days 3 nights stay in a Deluxe Room at Courtyard Seminyak inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons and a Medal. The second place winner clocked in at 16 minutes and 58 seconds and took home a 3 days 2 nights stay in a Deluxe Room at Courtyard Seminyak inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons and a Medal and the third place winner, who clocked in at 17 minutes and 14 seconds bagged a 2 days 1 night stay in a Deluxe Room at Courtyard Seminyak inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons and a Medal.
