Padma Resort Legian Participated in Bali’s Biggest Beach Clean Up
Padma Resort Legian joined in Bali’s Biggest Clean Up, a campaign by One Island One Voice, initiated by Bye Bye Plastic Bags that was held on Saturday, 24 February 2018. The campaign has continued to raise public awareness regarding to waste problems since 2015.
The One Island One Voice Campaign brings together all parties including the government, companies and the surrounding communities to help solve the waste problems as soon as possible in the hopes that this will stop ecological disasters, striking not only Bali but all coastal areas surrounding Indonesia. Melati Wijsen, the co-founder of Bye Bye Plastic Bags said that Bali is flooded by waste in the rainy seasons and Badung District’s Environment and Sanitary Office (DLHK) had declared a "waste emergency" along six kilometer coastal lines, including popular beaches like Jimbaran, Kuta, and Seminyak.
On Saturday, 24 February 2018, Padma Resort Legian’s employees participated in this movement with activities such as picking up rubbish at Padma Beach, and sweeping the walkways. “In the long run, we need to also make sure that all the rubbish collected were disposed well, instead of being relocated to the uninhabited land by the resort which has been a major issue in the past,” said William Santoso, the Hotel Manager of Padma Resort Legian. Padma Resort Legian is committed to its corporate social responsibilities now and in the future through its already established Padma Asri program where members of the staff work hand in hand alongside local residents to clean the resort’s surroundings.
