Yesterday on Thursday (7/2), Bali Governor Wayan Koster met hundreds of Balinese conventional taxi drivers in front of Bali Governor office in Renon, Denpasar. He answered regarding the demands by the Balinese conventional taxi drivers who gave protest about the online taxi drivers in Bali.
“Of course, I understand that aspiration (by the Bali conventional taxi drivers). What I’m going to do is first to give a transportation service for the tourists and Balinese people in general.” said Koster in his speech.
Bali government will support within the operational and the funding for the conventional taxi drivers according to the mechanism, and also providing an online app to accommodate all the members of BTB (United Bali Transport).
He then added, “We will also create an online app (re:for taxi drivers). Both conventional and modern can operate it.”
According to Koster, the existing system will strive to synergize the needs and demands of modern transportation services but still maintain the characteristics that have been inherent in conventional transportation.
