Bali is about to have its own railway as the new transportation system. The Bali government has designed a new railway project that in the future will connect the entire island which is expected to begin next year on 2020 as discussed during the coordination meeting last Friday, May 10th.
The meeting was led by the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, at Jaya Sabha Official Residence of the Governor and it was attended by several officials from the Ministry of Transportation. According to the governor, the island’s first railway project is important since the Bali is under the spotlight as one of the world’s leading tourist destination.
The route that connect Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport – Mengwitani – Singaraja will become the first priority to be built in 2020. As a new type of transportation in Bali, the governor expected that this new developed railway system can be able to coexist harmoniously with both Bali’s environment and culture in which the government has therefore planned to provide the electrical-powered trains.
This most ambitious transportation project is stated to be coherent with what that have been committed by the local government in improving the island’s transportation system as to accommodate the tourism needs and purposes. “The land, sea, and air transportations will always be improved, not only for general purposes but also to accommodate tourism purposes,” said I Wayan Koster.
