The district government of Klungkung will soon charge a fee for foreign tourists when visiting to Nusa Penida island, Tibun News reports. The local authorities have discussed the implementation of the new plan together with the local tourism agency and the local water transportation companies in Klungkung on last Monday, 3 June 2019.
This levy is paid by each foreign tourist, both adults and children who is visiting Nusa Penida island and is regulated as a recreational area retribution in accordance with the Klungkung District Regional Regulation No. 5 Year 2018 about Recreational and Sport Areas.
Each adult foreign tourist is charged for IDR 25,000 per person while it is IDR 15,000 for children. The fee will be charged on arrival at all the ports located in Nusa Penida island.
The Klungkung district government have targeted this plan to be executed starting this June 2019.
According to the local authorities, the collected retribution fund will later be used by the local government to improve all the facilities on the island in supporting tourism such as public road construction and other public facilities.
