Salihara Community Presents Lempad’s Art Exhibition in Jakarta
The multimedia exhibition from Salihara Community will be presented tomorrow on June 19, 2019 in Jakarta, featuring the works from Balinese Maestro, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad in “The Darkness Is White”. The exhibition will present some of Lempad’s drawings and sculptures borrowed from museums and private collections in Bali and Jakarta. A documentary videos and photos of Lempad’s life and works will also be presented.
The movie ‘Lempad’ by John Darling will feature a visualization of video mapping and AR from his works with a technology company which can be enjoyed by millennial generations.
I Gusti Nyoman Lempad was born in 1862 and was a Balinese painter, sculptor, also an Undagi or a traditional architect for building houses and temples in Bali. He is a part of the early period Balinese artists whose works is inspired by traditional Balinese folklores and myths presented in a blend of Balinese and Western style.
For the first time, some of Lempad’s work will be displayed in Jakarta. The exhibition also features collections from Ubud’s Puri Lukisan Museum, Arma Museum, and some private collections from Daniel Yusuf, a collector of Lempad’s works.
The exhibition will take place on June 19 , 2019 until July, 7 2019 at Salihara Community in Jakarta.
