If your French vocabulary consists of no more than ‘Oui’, ‘Non’ and ‘peut-être’, not to worry. To try the reputable Kafe Warisan’s French cuisine, words are completely unnecessary. Make sure to refresh your memory regarding ‘Mmm’s’, ‘Oooo’s’ and ‘Aaaa’s’ and you’ll be just fine!
Reminiscent of an authentic French bistro in an old town by ‘La Seine’, the tasteful combination of light salmon coloured walls, blue/green shutters and table cloths, truly breaths Parrris… Wonderful pictures of ‘Bali life’ by the multi-talented French photographer, Patrick Richard, give the remarkable restaurant a gentle Balinese touch, creating a very unique atmosphere.
After its birth, 15 years ago, Kafe Warisan has undergone some extraordinary changes. Transforming from an Italian restaurant to a Vietnamese eatery, the international reputation for sophisticated French Mediterranean cuisine, topped off with first-class imported wines and affable staff members, was gained shortly after Said Alem and Nicolas (Doudou) Tourneville took over the, until then, not very successful establishment.
Different menus for lunch and dinner provide an incredibly wide selection of excellent dishes, the signature one being ‘Hot Foie Gras’. Not without reason is this one of the most popular items on the menu; the tasty vinegar sauce, blended with port, forms an exquisite combination that slowly melts on your tongue. Delicious!
A few of the many other delicacies are the ‘Fresh Tagliatelle Pasta’ served with an intensely flavourful white truffle oil, the wonderful ‘Duck Leg Confit’ accompanied by caramelised shallots and a perfectly sweetened honey and balsamic garlic sauce, and an unforgettable crispy puff pastry filled with vanilla custard, ‘Le Millefeuille’, to be found on the ‘Sweet Temptation’ menu. All dishes are beautifully garnished with fruit and there is an outstanding wine, to be chosen from the restaurant’s renowned, immaculate wine list, including ‘Chateau Cheval Blanc’, ‘Altair Tinto’ and a white ‘Marc Kreydenweiss’, to complement every single one of them.
An absolute feast for those who enjoy fine cuisine… and don’t we all!
