The high intensity of rainfall triggered by extreme weather has strike Karangasem regency for the past few weeks causing landslide in Bunutan village in Karangasem on Wednesday (13/2). The earth material is covering the entire road access in the area, disrupting and causing limited traffic since only motor bikes can travel through the road.
The chief of District Sega I Bunutan, Komang Kariana explains, “The residents, along with staff from Bali Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), are clearing the earth material. However, it’s only motorbikes that can access the road now since there’s still many heavy materials left at the site. There are still many heavy materials that haven’t cleared yet like big rocks, therefore it will need heavy vehicles to clear them up.”
Ida Agus Arimbawa from BPBD Karangasem stated that he already deployed officers to observe and conducting the clear-up operation with the help of other local government agency and the local community.
