A fire reported on Thursday night (10/3) in Ceking, Gianyar. At least a building with 12 units of art shops, a restaurant and an empty shophouse was destroyed by the massive fire which was spreading quickly. The Gianyar fire department and Tegalalang Police responded to the emergency situation and sent out 9 units of fire trucks.
The fire was first seen at around 7.30 PM local time by a worker, Muhamad Wakik who was doing his job nearby. As reported by Nusa Bali, Muhamad Wakik saw thick smoke coming from an art shop at the south. The fire spread quickly and burnt down the other art shops since there were lots of flammable inventories like clothes and paintings. Wakik quickly reported this to the nearby residents to help to put down the fire.
Even after 9.27 PM local time, Kumparan reported that the officers worked hard to put down the fire to avoid it from entering the residential houses. The fire located in a densely populated neighbourhood and tourist destination in Ceking, Tegalalang in Gianyar. Luckily, no injuries or deaths reported but the loss is estimated to reach hundreds of million rupiahs. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. The area is still open for public and visitors after the fire incident.
