Throughout this day (10/14), the people at Nusa Penida Island is celebrating Nyepi Segara, Radar Bali reports. All sorts of activities surrounding Nusa Penida waters are strictly prohibited for the entire day. Ports, diving centres and water sport places are reportedly closed.
According to Tribun News, on this day, boats leaving from Sanur to Nusa Penida island in Sanur port are not operated, but all activities will be back to normal by tomorrow morning.
Nyepi Segara is an annual celebration which falls on the fourth full-moon (Purnama Kapat) of the year. This is quite similar to Bali’s Nyepi or Silent Day but Nyepi Segara only oblige the residents of Nusa Penida to stop their activities on the island’s waters. The whole processions and rites took place in Penataran Agung Ped temple.
