The 55-year old Guido Torres Morales is jailed for years for smuggling 950 grams of cocaine to Bali, Radar Bali reports. Morales was arrested in June at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport after the officers found the drugs hidden inside his stomach.
Accompanied by his attorney from Peradi’s legal aid institute, the peruvian man attended his trial at the Denpasar district court. According to law number 113 article (2) on UU RI No. 35 Year 2009 about drugs, he was charged with 17 years in jail and 2 billion rupiahs fine by the prosecutor. It was less than the earlier charge of 18 years in jail.
As reported by Radar Bali, Morales was caught by the officers at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport. After entering the airport’s immigrational post, his suspicious act was caught by the officers and so he was sent to undergo an x-ray examination. The result revealed 124 pieces of wrapped foils inside his stomach. Further investigation found white powder containing cocaine in each of those wrapped foils and weight 950 grams in total.
