The 26-year old Ni Kadek Anny Pandini has won the Judo gold at the 2019 Sea Games in Philippines, NusaBali reports. She became the first female Balinese Judo athlete to capture the gold for Indonesia.

Anny Pandini is awarded with 3 ippon (the highest score that a fighter can achieve in Judo), after successfully won against Rena Furukawa from Philippines, Hwee Ru Kom from Singapore and Kamini Sri Segaran from Malaysia. On her last competition, she lost against Thi Bich Ngoc, the judo athlete from Vietnam. However, Anny managed to secure her gold since her rival scored with 2 ippon.

“I enrolled in four competitions. The system put all the athletes to meet in every competition so there is no final game. I only lost one to a Vietnamese judo athlete. But luckily, I scored the highest according to points. Therefore, I was awarded the gold medal,” stated Anny Pandini to NusaBali on Thursday (12/05).

This is her second consecutive win after her previous gold at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore. During her carrier as an athlete in Judo, she has joined the team since her first 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang and brought home 2 medals in Judo.
