Bali Dynasty Resort was recently awarded a Platinum IV Medal at the 2019 Tri Hita Karana (THK) Awards & Accreditation in Denpasar, Bali. The award was presented in recognition of the resort’s significant achievements in incorporating sustainable, spiritual, social and environmental principles and practices to business. Last year, the resort received a Platinum Medal III.
Tri Hita Karana is a traditional life philosophy followed by the Balinese community to accomplish secular and spiritual bliss through the harmonious relationship amongst humans (‘pawongan’), and between humans and God (‘parahyangan’) and the environment (‘palemahan’). The awards were initiated in 2000 to acknowledge hospitality operators for adopting this local value and applying it to all aspects of operation. Four years later, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN-WTO) endorsed the awards. The awards also gained further support when in 2010, the philosophy became part of the Bali Clean and Green roadmap.
Bali Dynasty Resort has long implemented the principles of Tri Hita Karana in its business practices and policies. This entails adhering to local cultural and spiritual beliefs and trying to make a difference to those less fortunate who have not benefitted from tourism on the island. Since 2015, Bali Dynasty Resort has been reaching out to people in need through a charity project called “Help Friends for Life” in partnership with Solemen. To date, Bali Dynasty Resort has already supported many SoleBuddies with their ongoing long-term care and education, while at the same time helping many individuals with one-off donations, such as wheelchairs, prosthetic legs and medical treatment.
In July 2019, Bali Dynasty Resort also sponsored and completed renovations for the new SoleHouse, that serves as the official headquarters for Solemen Indonesia. This care facility replicates a nurturing home environment and provides the necessary assistance and resources required to keep families together before, during, and after medical treatment. The Bali Dynasty Resort Care & Recovery Centre features 10 bedrooms, four shared bathrooms, one intensive care room with a shower facility, a kid’s playground, snooze room and living room. There is also a communal kitchen and a laundry area with washing machines, running water and electricity.
On the environment side, the resort is committed to maintaining the highest possible environmental standards. This involves organising a monthly and annual general clean-up programme with staff members from all departments, and making an effort to grow and nurture rare plants in our garden. We also work closely with the ‘banjar’ (localBalinese community) to create a green, clean and safe environment for the comfort of all guests.
