Indonesia has declared no overstay penalty for the Chinese tourist in Indonesia amid the recent travel restriction due to coronavirus outbreak, CNN Indonesia reports. However, the grant is effective only for 1 month. The government will also give the same treatment for its citizens who work overseas.
“The government will facilitate the overstay visa for one month to Indonesian workers overseas and the Chinese tourists,” stated Airlangga Hartarto of Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Bogor Palace on Tuesday (4/2).
The grant is given amid the recent ban on flights to China and free visa on arrival for the Chinese tourists.
The coronavirus outbreak has caused slow travel movement of the Chinese tourist, especially the recent travel restriction by the Chinese government to its people. Therefore, the Indonesian government plans on setting distinct tariffs for airfares and travel accommodation to push tourism.
