The flight restriction to China from the Indonesian government has caused at least five thousands Chinese tourists stranded in Bali, Bloomberg reports. The rising cases of coronavirus have triggered the Indonesian government to close down temporarily the entire flight to and from China mainland. Most were unaware about the ban, but the Indonesian government grants a one-month visa extension for the Chinese tourists.
“There will be a visa extension for the Chinese citizens like the order from the Indonesian central government. Foreign citizens (the Chinese tourists) are allowed to prolong their stay during the flight restriction. Many of them want to prolong their holiday in Bali and that’s not a problem,” stated Bali’s Vice Governor, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati to Bali Puspa News in Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport on Wednesday (5/1).
According to Bali Puspa News, all flight to China Mainland from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has been closed since Wednesday (5/1) with a prior 5-days span for tourists to travel back to China.
