Several airlines will offer discounted domestic flights amid the coronavirus outbreak, CNBC Indonesia reports. The decision was taken after a drop in the air travel of the Chinese tourists in the past two months which leads to the decreasing tourism revenue.
Adita Irawati from the Ministry of Transportation confirmed the news, adding that the deals will be released within this week.
“If possible, it (the deals) will be released within this week or during next week,” stated Adita Irawati on Thursday (6/2).
The cutbacks will be set by each airline. More discounts will be offered to several popular destinations in Indonesia, including Bali, North Sulawesi, Bintan and Riau as the main gateway of the Chinese tourists. This deal is hoped can rise the tourists arrival and hotels occupancy in Indonesia.
