Approximately 100 foreigners were denied entry into Bali and other Indonesia territories due to the current Corona Virus outbreak as the local government bears down on entry requirements by restricting entry to those who have visited China in the last two weeks.
The Law and Human Rights Ministry’s Bali office head Sutrisno said that the foreigners were from various countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the United States and more while foreigners denied entry into Bali were Armenians, Brazilians, Australians, Canadians, Britons and New Zealanders.
The new restriction has been put in place as per the travel ban to and from China which was effected as of 5th February. Those who have visited China in the last 14 days will be denied entry. Chinese travellers are also banned from entering Bali and Indonesia, and the government has stopped all Visa-related facilities for Chinese citizens including Visa-Free-Entry and Visa-On-Arrival.
Flights to and from China have also been suspended and a few hundred Chinese tourists are currently stranded in Bali.
Indonesia has recorded no confirmed cases of Corona Virus to date.
