Two women from Banyuwangi, East Java are now facing the death sentence for drug trafficking into Bali. The two women, aged 27 and 22 were detained by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) here in Bali on Monday (10/2) for carrying 1,718 grams of crystal meth, 788 inex, 7 happy five pill tablets and 3.6 grams of cocaine.

Both women were found to be active drug users and couriers or “drug mules”; both were working for drug criminals named Aji and Heri, the latter who is currently serving time at the Kerobokan Prison while Ari is a fugitive of the BNN.

“The BNN is currently in hot pursuit for Aji. It is safe to say that both Aji and Heri are partners. With Heri in prison, Aji acted as the mastermind controlling the movements of the two women,” said I Putu Gede Suastawa, head of BNN Bali.

The two women are facing the death penalty under Indonesia’s law as per Article 114 Paragraph (2) or Article 112 Paragraph (2) RI Law Number 35 Year 2009 Regarding Narcotics.
