This year’s Bali Arts Festival scheduled for June-July, 2020 is now officially canceled with the issuance of an official letter of notification addressed to all regents and mayors of the province of Bali on Tuesday (31/3).
“Due to the PKB (Pesta Kesenian Bali) XLII 2020 scheduled for June 13 to July 11, 2020, being very close to the current end of the National Emergency Response Period on the spread of Covid-19, which is on May 29, 2020,” explained the Bali Governor I Wayan Koster in the letter.
This decision, supported by all mayors and regents in Bali, is in line with the direction of the central government, to focus on the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus pandemic.
The basis for making this decision is due to the increase in confirmed cases in various countries, including Indonesia, and amidst the uncertainty about the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic which is affecting society psychologically.
Under these conditions, the preparation of the Bali Arts Festival (PKB) also could not be carried out optimally, because it involves various groups of artists in Bali, outside Bali and international artists.
