Following up on a joint decree issued by the Governor of Bali and the Bali Local Village Councils on Saturday (28/3), the Bali Covid-19 Task Force has requested the assistance of the Local Village Councils to prevent transmission of the virus.

Through the formation of a joint task force, the Balinese Local Village Councils are expected to discipline their citizens to conduct social and physical distancing, bearing in mind that many communities are less concerned about government regulations.

Head of the Bali Covid-19 Task Force, Dewa Made Indra said the countermeasures would not be able to run optimally if they only relied on the government. He asked the Balinese Village Councils to exercise control over residents to comply with health protocols recommended by the government.

“I envision, if the local villages communities in Bali succeed in implementing Covid-19 prevention protocols related to local villagers in an orderly manner, then the spread of Covid-19 in Bali will certainly be stopped, which means we won the war,” Dewa Made Indra said in an official letter on Tuesday (31/3).
