The government will soon distribute 20 new coronavirus detection devices imported by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, to a number of provinces.
According to the Special Staff of the Minister of SOE’s Arya Sinulingga, the device will be utilized in Jakarta starting next week. “Hopefully next week the devices for use in Jakarta can be installed, because technically this requires a (technical) process,” Arya said during a press conference at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/8/2020).
Aside from Jakarta, this equipment will also be distributed to other provinces. Starting from West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Lampung, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, to Papua. The hope is that the devices can be used two weeks after arrival in each province.
“We will send it as soon as possible. Hopefully after it is installed it can be utilized within two weeks after arriving at the location. If the hospital already has a location with negative pressure in place, then the equipment can be used immediately,” said Arya.
The 20 Covid-19 detection devices consist of two types. Two of the devices are called automatic RNA extractors capable of being used to test 1,000 specimens a day. The other 18 other devices are light cycle or PCR detectors with a capacity of 500 tests per day.
Hopefully with this tool, 9,000 to 10,000 corona tests can be carried out a day. “We hope that we can accomplish up to 5,000 to 10,000 tests a day; then we will be able to reach almost 30,000 tests in a month,” said Arya.
