The Government Spokesperson for Covid-19 Achmad Yurianto said People Under Monitoring (ODP) related to Covid-19 increased by 2,729 people to 243,455.
Yurianto said that this number was based on the latest report on May 7, 2020 at 12.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
“Accumulative People Under Monitoring total 243,455. (Up to) 200 thousand or more have been monitored and declared healthy,” Yuri said in an official statement at the Covid-19 Task Force Media Center at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in Jakarta on Thursday (7/5).
Yuri also said that the Patients Under Surveillance (PDP) have reached 28,508, an increase of 1,576 people. He said that number could change as results of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests become available.
“Some of them have been specifically monitored and have been released from the PDP list,” he said.
Furthermore, Yuri said that as many as 354 municipal districts in 34 provinces have been affected by Covid-19, increasing by 4 city districts compared to the previous day. Most recoveries patients have occurred in Jakarta, South Sulawesi, East Java, Bali and West Java.
“For a total of 2,381 patients,” Yuri said.
Regarding the report, Yurianto said the spread of Covid-19 is still occurring. Due to this, he asked all parties to play a role to stop the transmission.
“Let’s stay at home. It’s safer,” he said.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) says Indonesian citizens can co-exist with the coronavirus or Covid-19.
Jokowi said that as the vaccine has not been discovered, there was no evidence that the coronavirus has really stopped spreading.
“This means that until an effective vaccine is found, we must live in peace with Covid-19 for some time to come,” Jokowi said at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, in a video uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat, Media and Information Bureau on Thursday (7/5).
