President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stressed that he would not rush to decide on opening a number of public facilities in various regions in the “new normal” era, including schools and other facilities.
Speaking while reviewing the progress of renovations of the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Jokowi confirmed that the opening of places of worship, economic activities, and schools would still go through strict stages.
“Places of worship, economic activities, opening of schools, all go through strict stages” Jokowi stressed in a press conference on Tuesday (2/6).
Jokowi asserted that the opening of a number of public facilities will remain based on the R0 and Rt data curves of an area. The government will not arbitrarily just make a decision.
“Everything uses rigorous scientific data. So we hope it will run from stage to stage. From sector to sector, from province to province,” he explained.
