PT Bio Farma has set the price of the coronavirus vaccine in the US $5 to US $10 range or equivalent to IDR 72,500 to IDR 145,000 per dose.
Bio Farma Corporate Secretary Bambang Heriyanto said the price range could still change.
“We are still calculating vaccine prices, with a temporary estimate of US $5-US $10” he said on Tuesday night (22/7).
Presently, Bio Farma is importing the coronavirus vaccine from a Chinese company, Sinovac. A total of 2,400 doses of the vaccine were received by Bio Farma on July 19, 2020.
Bio Farma will conduct the third phase of clinical trials for the Covid-19 disease vaccine starting in August and running for six months.
The clinical trial process is targeted for completion in January 2021. After the third phase of clinical trials is complete and meets requirements, the state-owned pharmaceutical company plans to start vaccine production.
“There is no patent in the collaboration” he added.
Previously, President Director of Bio Farma Honesti Basyir targeted production of the coronavirus vaccine to commence in the first quarter of 2021.
Bio Farma is preparing its production facilities to handle a maximum capacity of 250 million doses.
“If the third-stage Covid-19 clinical trial runs smoothly, Bio Farma will begin production in the first quarter of 2021” he said.
