The increasing intensity of the spread of Covid-19 that has occurred recently in Denpasar has caused all parties to raise awareness. To prevent clusters of infection at public facilities, the city of Denpasar Government has decided to close certain public facilities again.
3 public facilities have closed – Lumintang Field, the Puputan Badung Park and the Lumintang City Park.
Spokesperson for Covid-19 Task Force for the City of Denpasar, I Dewa Gede Rai on Sunday (13/9) explained that the transmission has been increasing in recent weeks. Not only in the city of Denpasar; almost all regions have experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases.
“Covid-19 cases have experienced a surge; due to this, we must be more disciplined in implementing health protocols. For the time being, three public facilities, namely Lumintang Field, Puputan Badung I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung Field and Lumintang City Park have been closed again to reduce crowds (gathering)” he explained.
It was further explained that the closure of these three public facilities has been carried out indefinitely, while awaiting further evaluation and recommendations from the Covid-19 Task Force.
“Given the spread of cases of Covid-19 in the city of Denpasar have increased, we request that the public not to visit these three places, whether for sports or recreation. The public is encouraged to exercise at home only, and the community should be tolerant for the sake of the common good and health” added Dewa Rai.
Dewa Rai said that public facilities that are able to adhere to the implementation of disciplined health protocols will remain open. So not all public facilities will be closed; just those that pose a high risk of uncontrolled transmission.
“The city field and park are (often) visited until late at night, so there are concerns that it will become a new cluster due to uncontrolled crowds. We hope the public can understand, and hopefully Covid-19 can be handled well” he concluded.
