Fifty-five (55) hotels from Marriott International hotels and resorts in Indonesia, hosted the 1st Virtual Run To Give Indonesia on October 1st to 31st, 2020. The purpose of this charity event was to raise money for an Indonesia-wide associates relief fund, which will be dedicated to support Marriott Associates who have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and in support of Bali Children’s foundation. Besides the General Managers and other hotels’ associates, the general public also joined the run and support this great cause. This event was Marriott Indonesia’s first ever virtual charity run, allowing participants to adhering to social-distancing measures and to safeguard the wellbeing of our guests, associates and participants.
“We are very pleased with the success of our first Virtual Run to Give,” said Marie Browne, General Manager of Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort and Chairwoman of Virtual Run To Give 2020. “Our associates, brands and partners have shown overwhelming support for this cause. We are proud to help raise awareness and funds not only for our associates but also for Bali Children Foundation, supporting the underprivileged children of Bali”
The event raised close to IDR 850 million in funds to be donated directly to support Marriott Associates who have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and to the Bali Children Foundation.
“The Virtual Run To Give committee would like to thank all the runners and supporters, for their generous participation and contribution in making this event a huge success. Because of your generosity, we are able to support our associates with basic food and necessities and support Bali Children’s Foundation with projects furthering the education of children in Bali” added Lily Wijaya, General Manager of Fairfield Legian as one of the ‘Virtual Run To Give 2020’ committee.
Last year, “Run to Give” took place across the Asia Pacific, supporting non-profit partners, selected local charities across the Asia Pacific as well as contributed towards Marriott disaster relief efforts. With a growing footprint underpinned by the strength of its associates, Marriott International aims to continue creating a lasting positive impact on the local communities it serves, guided by its social impact and sustainability platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction. We look forward to continuing this effort again next year.
