Indonesia has become the first country in Southeast Asia to record a total of 1 million cases of Covid-19 infection.
Data released by the Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday (26/1) reported the addition of 13,094 cases, bringing Indonesia’s total to 1,012,350 cases.
The number of deaths due to Covid-19 increased by 336, bringing the total number of victims to 28,468 people.
The number of patients who have recovered reached 10,868, bringing total recoveries to 820,356 people.
Based on statistical data from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Indonesia’s Covid-19 cases now rank 19th in the world.
Among Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia maintains the highest number of Covid-19 cases, surpassing the Philippines which reports 516,166 cases and 10,386 deaths.
The third position is occupied by Malaysia with 186,849 cases and 689 deaths.
Myanmar is in fourth place with 137,957 cases and 3,069 deaths.
Singapore ranks fifth in Southeast Asia for Covid-19 cases with 59,366 cases and 29 deaths followed by Vietnam (1,549 cases and 35 deaths), as well as Cambodia (460 cases) and Laos (44 cases).
