Positive cases of the corona virus (Covid-19) increased by 5,937 today, Wednesday (31/3). Thus, there have been a total of 1,511,712 positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia since it was first announced in early March 2020.
Based on data from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, of this number, 1,348,330 of them have recovered. The number of patients who recovered increased 5,635 from the previous day.
Then from the number of positive cases recorded, as many as 40,858 of them have died. 104 patients died after being infected with Covid-19 from the previous day.
Meanwhile, 122,524 active cases were recorded and 71,440 specimens were examined with 62,210 suspects.
The government is still trying to overcome the corona virus pandemic in the country, including by implementing the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
The vaccination program also continues. Currently, health workers, the elderly, and public service workers have also started receiving vaccine injections.
Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin claims vaccination has reached 10 million injections. It is targeted that 181.5 million people will receive vaccines to achieve herd immunity or group immunity.
Most recently, the government has banned the public from going home to this year’s Eid al-Fitr. Eid homecoming is prohibited to prevent a spike in new cases of the corona virus.
The homecoming prohibition takes effect from 6-17 May 2021. People are also advised not to travel outside the area before and after May 6-17.
The government will impose sanctions that are determined to go home. However, the details of the sanctions are still being discussed by the government.
Exceptions for the 2021 homecoming ban will be given to parties who wish to travel with certain criteria which will be further studied.
