The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has again extended the ban on air travel for children under 12 years old.
This provision is stated in the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation No. 62 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel by Air Transportation during the 2019 Covid-19 Pandemic.
This Ministry of Transportation regulation will come into effect on August 11, 2021 until a time to be determined later.
“Passengers under the age of 12 years are temporarily not permitted to travel domestically between provincial/district/city administrative boundaries,” the circular stated.
To date, children cannot be vaccinated against Covid-19 because there is no vaccine specifically designed for this age group.
Existing vaccines are currently in clinical trials for children under 12 years of age.
PPKM (Restrictions of Community Activities) level 4 was officially extended yesterday in a number of regions. However, there has been an easing of regulations such as travel requirements such as rapid antigen tests being sufficient for fully vaccinated air travelers between Java and Bali.
PCR testing is still required for air travel from and outside of Java and Bali.
Easing of regulations also included the opening of shopping centers with capacity limits of 25% and mandatory requirements for visitors to be fully vaccinated.
